Chair’s report
The Trust has entered into a new phase of development over the last six months making massive progress in formalising our structure and priorities whilst aligning to our mission of transforming the lives of young people through physical activity and sport. The Trust is planning the largest trip we have done to Africa to date, sending more people out than we have ever before. This trip will assist the schools in teaching methodology and materials for sport and learning whilst also delivering on commitments for infrastructure as part of a 5-year plan. The trip has seen a massive contribution from Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School who have been tirelessly fundraising and will also be sending some of their students on the trip to experience first-hand the impact we are making.
Whilst the Africa trip is a big part of what the Trust delivers, we are also delivering programmes in the local Birmingham area to improve the health and well-being of young people. The results of recently run programmes are impressive to say the least. Working with local schools, we have started to change the lives of young people of which the positive impact has extended into families in the local community and the schools themselves. As we grow, we are applying for more programmes locally within the Birmingham area. We are confident that securing additional funding will enable us to grow the rate of work we are delivering whilst also staying true to our core values. Within these applications we are also looking to grow the support structure within the Trust to bring in more resources, build on the sound foundations we have laid and continuing the ongoing success.
In addition to the above work, we are also building a proposition to speak more clearly about our mission for the Trust with local businesses tapping into CSR funding for local charities demonstrating measurable results from their funding and investment in the Trust. In developing this area of the Trust we are also organising some fantastic fundraising events which will be run over the next 6 months.
